Boe Eye Box Glam ROAR | elliewoods

Whilst out shopping the other day, I came across this Boe beauty eye box which had been marked down from $5 to $3 so of course I thought after having a look at the colour range, why not! The colour range seem like they would make lovely eye looks ranging from natural to dramatic even darish looks.

Of course knowing that in the past I have not been much of a fan for some particular Boe products and that Boe is quite a cheap brand for most of their products only $2 . I had no grand expectations for this eye shadow palette.

However once applying it to my lids I discovered that they are quite lovely colours.

The downside to this palette would be that those nude to lighter shades are hardly visable (as you can see from the photos) However those darker shades especially Copper are so highly pigmented that you only need a smidge in order to get the perfect colour for your lids.

(Left to Right: Pyramid, Princess, Galaxy, Spear, Moss, Copper, Treasure,Highbrow, Dusted, Frost)

I do wish that the lighter shades such as pyramid were just that much more pigmented as I believe if it was then it would be a truly beautiful colour on the lids.

All in All I did highly enjoy this palette, its just those lighter shades that let me down in this palette.

Forgotten Products of February | elliewoods

At the end of January I sifted through my makeup collection and found a abundant amount of makeup which I had either forgotten about or have stopped reaching for. That is when I decided that I would at the start/end of every month take out the products that I haven't been using and put them in a box next to where I do my makeup. So instead of opening my makeup draw I will hopefully go to the box. Which I hope means that in turn I use some of the products that I have been neglecting.

So without further ado these are the products I will be using all month long!

LIPGLOSS:
I would have to say that lipgloss for me, isn't really essential for an everyday look. This means that I tend to either lose a lot of them or that their little box of glosses just go untouched for what seems an eternity and I hardly ever get round to using them. Meaning that this takes me forever to actually finish one lipgloss.

(Boe - Milk Chocolate, BYS Duo Gloss - Chocolate & Vanilla. Essence Lipgloss - Big Night Out & JQC - Kiwi & Vanilla Gloss)
LIPLINER/STICK
Now this is probably one of my most used lot of products, however because whenever I tend to go shopping I pick up a new liner/ chubby stick or lipstick, I do tend to lose track and stop using some of my older products and op for those newer ones.

(BYS lipliner - Ice Pink & Australis Show Stopper Gloss Stick - Fairy Floss)
MASCARA:
Of course mascara is a girls best friend when it comes to your lashes. Anything to make them fuller and longer is great in my books and I am always tending to try something new and find the perfect mascara where I just think "yep! thats my mascara!" so whilst I do like these mascaras they aren't up there in my favourites so they do tend to be overlooked quite often.
(Rimmel Scandaleyes Show Off - Black, Max Factor Lash Extension Effect - Brown/Black & Revlon Photoready 3D volume - Black)
 EYELINER:
So for a while (about a month) I completely stopped using liquid eyeliner which meant that I had my eyeliner collection started to look a bit full. So because I began missing my winged eyeliner I whipped them back out and these where the ones I realised that I tended to overlook when selecting my eyeliner so I thought they would be perfect to put in my february box!
(e.l.f liquid eyeliner - black. Rimmel Exaggerate Eyeliner - Black & e.l.f Brightening Eyeliner - Coffee)
EYESHADOW:
When it comes to eyeshadows I always tend to steer towards natural colours, this is because I hardly like to step out of my comfort zone when it comes to shadows and it is a bit daunting for me to picture myself with greens and blues on my eyelids. So as you can see I stick to browns, blacks and golds. These however in the recent months haven't gotten much use. Because as it is Summer in Australia, I have tended to just use nude shades on my lids. So to get back into the swing of things I selected these few shadows and lets hope I get some use out of them!
(e.l.f beautiful browns eyeshadow palette & Max Factor - Onyx)
(Beauty Attitude Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil - Golden & Revlon Colorstay - 500 Addictive)
 (Rimmel Glam'Eyes Quad - 001 Smokey Noir)
BLUSH:
It always seem to me that I can never really find a nice and natural looking blush when it comes to drugstore products. This means that I will usually buy a blush and not use it for quite some time until I test it out a bit and discover the perfect way to wear it on my face without it looking to over the top. This however also means that (because I'm to lazy) I stick to those products that I love and enjoy and leave many in the draw until I'm bored or just want a change. This is why I have chosen these two as whilst I have wore these before, I still find myself never reaching for them and this month I tend to get a lot of use out of them!
(Smooch Blusher & Savvy Classic Blush - Silky Pink)
BRONZER:
Usually just like blush, with bronzer I tend to steer towards high-end products this is because they tend to be less orange when applied to the face and have a all over more natural look to them, especially when it comes to contouring and such. I have chosen these two for this month as I feel that they are constantly overlooked in my collection and never seem to be the products that I first reach for or even think about using.
(e.l.f Warm Bronzer & Beauty Attitude Blush, Bronzer & Highlighter)
POWDER:
Whilst I have a few powders in my collection I always tend to never use any of them other than my Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder, this is because it does everything I need a powder to do and whether I am going into the city for the day or off for a night out I know that it will fight to keep any shine away. That is why I thought as I am trying to use neglected products this month I would pull out two powder and get the most out of what little is left of them. (and there is very little left in both)
(Maybelline Mineral Power - nude (light) & Avon Loose Powder - Translucent)
CONCEALER:
I seem to have over my fair share of concealers, so in order to free up some space I have chosen two concealers this month to use and these two are just the perfect combination for a full and even coverage for both dark under eye circles and any blemishes you might need covering up.
(Maybelline Cover Stick - Yellow (under eye dark circles) & Essence stay all day concealer 16 hour)
  FOUNDATION:
With Foundation as it does with most Bloggers and such find a foundation that they love but then a bigger and better one comes along and the rest get forgotten. Now this tends to happen to me quite a lot especially when it comes to drugstore foundations. For a few months they will be everything I want in a foundation, the perfect colour, the perfect consistency, it will sit nicely on my face without becoming patchy or shiny. However then either the weather changes or the balance of my skin changes and then I'm off looking for a new foundation again. However at the moment I have pulled these from the back of my collection and they seem to be doing everything that I want them to do.
(Revlon Photoready Airbrush - Nude & Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - Soft Beige)
What products are you wanting to use this February? or let me know if you have done something like this and how it went :)

Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

WOWWEEE it has been a fair while since I have been on here!
I deeply deeply deeply apologise that I haven't been on here blogging away, but I have been quite swept away with a new semester at University and have hardly had anytime to even breath!

(On the left Bold Gold, On the right Audacious Asphalt)

Now whilst I have been away however I haven't forgot in the slightest to keep trying out new products to bring to you guys who are all wondering if a product is worth the hype and the dosh.

The first thing that I have tried out and have definitely been loving is the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows! now I have only tried out two of these colors, yet I absolutely love them!

The retail price for these eyeshadows is around $12 - $15 here in Australia depending on which store you visit (some can even retail up to $17!) However I was lucky enough to pick these up for both $4 as the Bold Gold was for sale for that price and  if you can't tell by the picture above the Audacious Asphalt was in the wrong packaging so I was also able to do a sneaky and purchase this for the same price!

I find that these are really long lasting and have the most beautiful colour pay off I have ever seen from a drugstore brand and I would highly recommend these to anyone who is in the market for a new cream eyeshadow.

(Top Picture: Unblended eyeshadow after one application)
Bottom Picture: Eyeshadow application blended out)
Maybelline has picked a great variety of colours to choose from so there is no real problem at all finding the perfect colour for you. Whilst I am happy with these little eyeshadows the only downside to them would be that I find that you really have to work the Audacious Asphalt one in with a brush or your finger otherwise it can come out a little to dark for my liking.

I have loved these two little beauties so much I think I may just have to go out and buy the tough as taupe one!

Hopefully now I can get back into the swing of things and continue to blog..On a regular occurrence :P

Beauty/Shopping Questions Answered!

Hey Guys!

This blog post is going to be a bit different from the others, this is going to be still centred around beauty, but it is also a way to kind of get to know me. These a questions that really just say which products I love and also some tips which you can use :)
What’s your favourite eye shadow colour to wear?
All the shades from the e.l.f Natural eye palette or Designer Brands Whipped Mineral Eyeshadow Creme to Powder in Ivory.
Which feature do you play up the most?
Probably my lips or eyes
What’s the one product you wouldn’t leave your house without?
If I am not wearing lipstick, The Nivea Essentials Lip Balm, love the stuff!
Favourite makeup brand?
Yves Saint Laurent & Nars

What’s your favourite makeup look ?
Deep Red lipstick with a cat eye
Favourite Shop?
I would have to say Cotton On or Gloss
Which product have you found yourself re-purchasing OVER and OVER again?
Maybelline the falsies mascara.
Which product would you NEVER repurchase again and why?
Ooo I would have to say the Nivea Visage be beautiful moisturising, just because it is a tinted moisturiser which is not appealing in the slightest. Mainly because it only comes in one colour and it makes my skin feel dirty.
Favourite drugstore makeup brand?
Rimmel
One beauty treatment you would always PAY to have done?
Having my makeup done for me :P
One beauty treatment you would NEVER pay to have done?
I would have to say getting a spray tan, I just don't find them appealing and wouldn't want someone spraying me with stuff whilst  in my underwear.
Your favourite makeup brand, if only one could exist?
Yves Saint Laurent
Where do you buy most of your clothes from?
Cotton On :)

The best tip/advice you can give regarding beauty and makeup?
To always moisturise and to use primer under your foundation, this not only helps mattify oily skin but also ensures that your foundation lasts longer and even prevents slipping
Favourite moisturiser?
Nivea Visage Young Mattifying
Favourite nail polish brand?
BC. CO

Revlon Photoready 3D VOLUME Mascara

Hello Again,

So if you haven't read my previous post this is the second post today as I haven't blogged in over a week and thought I should add a bonus post.

This is also another product that I have recently been loving. Now I received this as a gift for christmas and at first when trying this I wasn't really a fan and just chucked it into my make - up for an occasion when I was running low on mascara. Yet recently I felt adventurous and thought why not give it another try. I don't know what I found unpleasing last time as I absolutely love this mascara!

Now I am usually very picky when it comes to mascaras as of course it has to go on my eyelashes and I usually find that some mascaras cause my eyes to become quite watery. Yet this mascara has the perfect brush which helps seperate each lash to add length and volume, with its round headed brush to help reach the smaller sections.

To achieve the look above I do apply more than one layer of the mascara to my lashes until I am happy with the boldness. Other than that I believe this product does exactly what the label says it volumises and gives a beautiful effect to the eyes.
This is by far one of the best Revlon Mascaras I have tried, now I dont usually repurchase mascaras unless I absolutely love them as Im always wanting to try new ones to see which ones I like more, but I will definitely be repurchasing this product!

Byeeeee :) x

Pricing in different countries

Hello beauty fanatics,

So this is an extra blog post for the day, as I just want to talk about the difference in pricing from on country to another country.
For quite some time now I have been hearing the hype and getting recommendations to start using high end make up brands such as M.A.C, NARS and MAKEUP FOREVER. Yet I do find this difficult to do as they are not so easily assessable in Australia as they are in the US or UK.

However whilst my parents were in the US my mother picked up this two little beauties for herself, which I admit I may have used more than her now.

Not only is it the lengths that one in Australia must go to, to find these products but the pricing is another factor. The prices here in Australia for this high end make up is drastically inflated compared to what it would be if purchased in the US or UK.

          NARS EYESHADOW

US - $24 which converts to $23.40 Australian dollars
UK - 18 pounds, which converts to $26.60 Australian dollars
Whislt in Australia this will cost you around $40
That is just one of the examples of the ridiculous pricing in Australian cosmetics, luckily however I will be travelling to the US and UK later on this year! This will be my first time to the US and my 3rd time coming back to the UK :D and I can't wait to explore and indulge in some good high end cosmetics, although I love Rimmel, Maybelline and the others, here in Australia they are the exact same price as the high end cosmetics.
Byeee and happy blogging! x

Beauty Haul!! makeup and more

Hello All!

So as you may be able to tell from the title I went on a little shopping spree and purchased a few things that I probably shouldn't have, but oh well! :) Whilst I bought a whole heap of things, some that are also not pictured here, I would just love to talk about the new range of Boe Beauty products I stumbled across whilst shopping!

The majority my makeup purchases was from a new little brand called Boe Beauty where all stock is $2, who could pass up such a bargain! The products I purchased were a pressed finishing powder compact in #1 Transluscent F/ Powder, it is quite a nice pinky colour and comes up quite well on the cheeks.

Along with this I also bought some lipsticks in the colours #4 Goddess, #6 Coral Kiss, #13 Natural Tea Rose and #14 Birthday Suit. This lipsticks are very pigmented and do come out basically the colour that is on the bottom of the packaging. Although these lipsticks are quite cheap, once they have a gloss over them they do last for a lot longer than they would without gloss. The only downside is that without gloss they are very easy to come off in just one wipe.

From Left to Right: #6 Coral Kiss, #4 Goddess, #13 Natural Tea Rose and #14 Birthday Suit.

Lastly from the Boe Beauty Products, I had to buy some lipglosses to go along with my new lipsticks These lipglosses aren't really that pigmented but they do have a nice finish and aren't to sticky like most cheaper lipglosses. I purchased 3 lipglosses in the colours #8 Milk Chocolate, #4 Kissalicious and #5 Ruby in the Sky.

From Top to Bottom:  #8 Milk Chocolate, #4 Kissalicious and #5 Ruby in the Sky.

Im thinking that I may soon do a blog on either my everyday makeup, the rest of the make up I purchased or a kind of room tour blog so you can see how my room all ties in together or even just to give you some ideas on ways to design your room :) ta ta! and see you next time! x
