SAVVY Cosmetics | elliewoods

A little while ago my local Priceline was having a massive 40% all cosmetics. So of course I had to have a little wander in there and pick up a few things I have never tried before.

Whilst in there I found the SAVVY cosmetics stand. SAVVY is a makeup brand that is exclusive only to Priceline, so you can't pick this brand up from anywhere other than at a Priceline store. Now SAVVY is quite a cheap brand as it is but I thought with the extra 40% why not give it a try. So I picked up a blush and three lipsticks and I will definitely be trying out more from their range in the future!

SAVVY have four different shade choices when it comes to their classic blush, so I picked up the colour silky pink and I can definitely say it lives up to its name! The blush formula is just so silky and smooth and applies beautifully to the skin. This blush usually retails for $4.99, which is amazing considering that it is so pigmented meaning that you only need the tiniest amount on your brush in order to get a great strong flush of colour.

The three lipsticks that I picked up weren't the colours that I originally wanted to purchase as I had been looking online before I went into the store, however I went on the last day of the sale, which meant a lot of things had already sold out. So I picked the shades, sand, cinnamon and plum. These lipsticks retail for the same price as the blush at $4.99. They are very creamy, moisturising and will stay on the lip for a reasonable amount of time, however they can tend to smear due to them being so creamy. I tend to apply a lip liner before using these lipsticks and then only applying a small amount and that does tend to stop this from occurring.

If you are in the market for a new blush I would definitely say to check out the SAVVY stand at your local Priceline. However whilst the SAVVY lipsticks are nice and moisturising and do have quite good colour payoff, I probably wouldn't purchase more of these lipsticks, just because they do tend to smear and aren't convenient when going out.

15 Things I want to do this 2014 | elliewoods

Here’s to 2014.

This is the first time I am ever going to set myself a target of 15 activities/things that I want to have done by the end of 2014. I am doing this as whilst I feel like I did quite a lot in 2013, I think that I didn’t really do everything that I wanted to do. This is because of University and other things that I found myself not really doing everything that I could have done.

So here is a list of things that I want to get done in 2014.

- Have Starbucks
- Watch the Notebook
- Read all of the Harry Potter Series
- Watch all of the Harry Potter Series
- Go Overseas (See video to see where I want to go)
- Go to a Comedy Festival
- Get my License
- Go to a show
- Go to the farm I used to go to as a child
- Go to the drive In
- Go camping
- Read and watch Perks of Being a Wallflower
- Go on holiday somewhere in Australia
- Blog every week
- Actually do everything on this list

I think that this is going to be a great way in which to ensure that I do get each and every one of these 15 things done this 2014. I also made a video about this on my Youtube Channel – elliewoods  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23tcYxPpnSk

and will be blogging every time I tick one of these activities off my list, I may also possibly do some little vlogs of the activities.

Three Legs | elliewoods

Mariah turned up on our doorstep around 5 and a half years ago at the age of 5 months old. With persistence and utter determination she not only made her way into our house but also our hearts. And that of our Rhodesian Ridgeback X dog Ralph who was 12 at the time. Anyone who meets her instantly fall in love with her and her personality. She is not a cat she is a little human in a cats body.
The end of 2013 was quite a stressful and emotional one.
On the 11th of December my mum accidently ran over my darling little kitty in the driveway. As she had decided that she no longer wanted to lie in the flowerbed but instead wanted to lie in our steep driveway and lick herself. Luckily for us and my cat Mariah, I was standing at the end of the driveway at the time and was able to hit Mariah slightly out of the way and stop my mum from completely running over her.

It was then a mad dash to the vet where we were sure we were going to lose her. We knew she had at least a broken leg, which was evident whilst holding her.

The beautiful vets at KVH took her off us and immediately put her in an oxygen chamber. Later that night once she was stabilised (around 9:30pm) they began to operate on her. 80% of her diaphragm had been destroyed and had to be fixed and also a small proportion of her bladder had to be removed. The operation was finished around 12:30am. Which we then had to convert her to the Emergency Hospital, as she would have to be observed overnight. This was because she had a large amount of air on her chest and a small tear in her windpipe; they said they couldn’t believe she was still alive, as most cats would just give up. After being observed and transported back to KVH in a oxygen chamber. We were told she was now able to breath on her own. Mariah stayed three days in KVH and finally we were allowed to bring her home.
 (two days after accident)
(first day home and instantly wanted to go outside)
Her leg still hadn’t been fixed so it was highly bandaged, as they wanted to deal with the life threatening injuries first. So we continued taking her to the vet to get her bandaged changed every two days. A week later they told us that two of her toes had no blood going to them and had to be removed. So they were removed that day.
Then on 23rd of December they told us that the leg would have to be removed as there was no longer any blood going to the remaining two toes, her stitches in her stomach also had to be removed and cleaned as her stitches were infected. Later on in the day they rang and told us that they could not go through with the operation as it was to dangerous and Mariah had stopped breathing during the operation to remove the leg. Luckily they were able to revive her, but she was to weak to go through with the operation that week.

On the 30st of December we took her in to get her bandaged changed once again. They looked her over and told us that she was ready for the operation. So on the 31st of December we took her in bright and early in the morning for her operation. Everything went well and we were able to bring her home that night to celebrate the New Year.

(day before leg amputation)
Now the 4th of January and she is slowly returning back to her old self, her fur is slowly growing back and she is slowly regaining some of the weight which she lost following the accident. She is still unable to properly walk but does give it quite a go. The lower half of the staples in her stomach are due to come out next Thursday and the stitches on her leg and the upper body staples are due to come out the following Thursday.
Well this was quite an emotional one to write, just rethinking about that day and all that has been done to save our gorgeous little kitty always gets me a bit teary.

Christmas Candles | elliewoods

Towards this time of year Nov- Dec (the christmas month) I find myself always on the lookout for a nice wintery  candle to get me into the spirit of Christmas. Even thought it is Summer here in Australia. I think that a nice vanilla scented candle just really gets you ready for Christmas. This year I stubbled upon this lovely candle, a vanilla and cinnamon scented candle for only $5. And it has been the only candle that I have been burning this entire month! Now I am unsure of what the brand of this candle is, but those who live in Australia may be able to find these in Safeway for $5 each. However with these candles I wasn't really fussed about what the brand as I just thought I would share with you my favourite Christmassy scent for this year!

I also couldn't help myself and grabbed another which is Berry Botanicals which I Think will be perfect for the Summer months.

With a burning time of over 25 hours and a aroma that will fill a entire room they are definitely the perfect little candle to have in any room of the house.

Rimmel Vinyl Glossy Lip Liners

These Vinyl Gloss Lip Liners from Rimmel come in around 10 shades of different colours ranging from the lightest pink 001 Moreish to the darkest brown 008 Choccie.

This means that there is likely to be a shade to suit anyones preference. Now what is great about this is that you do not have to buy the liners separately
they come in a two pack which is an excellent choice if you ask me. The packaging could be said to be reasonably average, however I have no problem with packaging as I find that
they have made it easier to open by adding a little piece of plastic near the top of the packaging to make it easy to open (Nothing worse than struggling to open something you just bought).
As most Rimmel products this product is reasonably priced.

The lip liners apply like a gloss, hence the name gloss lip liners, however they are not sticky in the slightest. They add a shine to the lips unlike most liners
which go on as in a matte consistency. The shine from what I have noticed lasts for around 2-3 hours and once it dries it does actually turn into a matte colour, which also looks beautiful on the lips.
Consistency wise I would say that it is somewhat like the Revlon lip butters, in how it applies to the lips and the smoothness of it. However Rimmel has found a way in which to put it in pencil form making it easier to carry round in a handbag. To be honest, I will usually steer clear of browns as I don't really find them appealing however these look wonderful on the lips and I just find myself going back for more every time. If I had to pick a favourite I would say that Moreish, Starlet and Tasty would have to all be fighting the top spot!
When swatched on the hand they look lovely and glossy, which is exactly how they turn out on the lips, however this picture does not give the glossiness any justice, making the liners appear quite plain.
Whilst this does retail as a lip liner, due to its glossiness and consistency I don't find that it is a good product to put under a lipstick, I would say that if you were to use this with a lipstick, I would recommend
putting a soft lipstick on with a similar shade to the lip liner and then applying it over the top of the lipstick, just to add a bit of shine, just as you would with any normal lipgloss
The only downside to this product would be that the product itself is quite soft, so you will find yourself having to sharpen this product   nearly after every application.

Now Im not entirely sure how how easily available these are in stores, as I have heard that these have possibly been discontinued. Which is a shame to say the least! All in all, I would definitely repurchase these Vinyl Lip Liners as I think that they are the perfect little thing to just slip into your handbag and that the pigmentation on the darker shades is just amazing.

Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

WOWWEEE it has been a fair while since I have been on here!
I deeply deeply deeply apologise that I haven't been on here blogging away, but I have been quite swept away with a new semester at University and have hardly had anytime to even breath!

(On the left Bold Gold, On the right Audacious Asphalt)

Now whilst I have been away however I haven't forgot in the slightest to keep trying out new products to bring to you guys who are all wondering if a product is worth the hype and the dosh.

The first thing that I have tried out and have definitely been loving is the Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadows! now I have only tried out two of these colors, yet I absolutely love them!

The retail price for these eyeshadows is around $12 - $15 here in Australia depending on which store you visit (some can even retail up to $17!) However I was lucky enough to pick these up for both $4 as the Bold Gold was for sale for that price and  if you can't tell by the picture above the Audacious Asphalt was in the wrong packaging so I was also able to do a sneaky and purchase this for the same price!

I find that these are really long lasting and have the most beautiful colour pay off I have ever seen from a drugstore brand and I would highly recommend these to anyone who is in the market for a new cream eyeshadow.

(Top Picture: Unblended eyeshadow after one application)
Bottom Picture: Eyeshadow application blended out)
Maybelline has picked a great variety of colours to choose from so there is no real problem at all finding the perfect colour for you. Whilst I am happy with these little eyeshadows the only downside to them would be that I find that you really have to work the Audacious Asphalt one in with a brush or your finger otherwise it can come out a little to dark for my liking.

I have loved these two little beauties so much I think I may just have to go out and buy the tough as taupe one!

Hopefully now I can get back into the swing of things and continue to blog..On a regular occurrence :P

German Shepard Puppies

Hello Everyone,
This blog post today is going to be a tad different from all the other ones that I have posted previously and this is because as you can already tell. This is not a beauty or makeup blog. No it is about these adorable little bundles of fur.

A close friends of mine's dog recently had puppies, 9 beautiful little German Shepherds. Now this is a regular occurrence because they actually bred them.

Luckily for them but sadly for me they are already sold to beautiful lovely homes but that didn't stop me from falling in love with these two. Who refused to move from my lap and fell asleep there resulting in me having to sit in the one spot for more than an hour (which I didn't mind in the slightest) and have another two little puppies biting my fingers and one my shoe!

So as I had such an enjoyable day I thought I would share with you some of the many (and I mean many) photos that I took that day.

Trying to attack my shoes again

All tuckered out after playing with us for 2 hours

Viva the beautiful mummy

I will be visiting them again in a few weeks time before they reach 8 weeks old (when they leave to be with their new families) They are just so adorable and can't wait to go and visit them again!
