Rain Hayne & Shine Farm | elliewoods

I wasn't sure exactly what I would Blog about this week, when I remembered I still hadn't uploaded this Vlog from a few weeks back.
A couple of weeks ago I visited the farm that I always used to go to as a child. Whilst it has had a few minor changes it is otherwise exactly how I remember it. So whilst I was there I thought I would Vlog a little bit and show you all little snippets of the day I had :) (This is my first kind of Vlog video, so keep that in mind) Hope you enjoy!

and also if you haven't already seen my video 15 Things I want to do in 2014, come check it out! :)

Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks | elliewoods

These lipsticks have made a massive impact on the beauty world, not only do they have a great formulation but the price is a bargain! Now I'm not entirely sure why I have waited so long to finally write this post on these lovely lipsticks, but it has been a long time coming and it is way overdue!

When this lipstick collection was first launched I heard a lot and saw a lot about this lipstick line, it had everyone in the beauty blogging world talking. Not only is there a lovely selection of colours to choose from, but also there is a gorgeous kind of berry smell to the lipstick itself.

There are three different Kate Moss Lipstick Lines at Rimmel at the moment and the black casing lipsticks have a kind of creme/satin finish. The black casing lipsticks are for both the Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipsticks and the Kate Moss Spring Collection Lipsticks. Whilst the red casing lipsticks are the Kate Moss Lasting Matte Finish Lipsticks.

I purchased all the available colours they had in stock in my local Priceline because they are simply the best drugstore lipstick available and I will definitely be going back in to check on when they restock so I can grab some of the colours I missed out on. They go on smoothly and last for a very long time without drying out your lips.
I find that the colour 09 is very much the same as 107 from the matte collection. I think they have done this also with the colours 11 from the Lasting Finish line and the Matte Line. I think this is great in case someone prefers a different finish. 16 is kind of your Barbie pink which I think will look gorgeous during those Summer months, or even if you just like noticeable pink lip for everyday use. 03 has probably now make it up there as my new favourite drugstore nude lipstick, it is just so versatile and easy to wear, making it suitable for all occasions. Lastly the 05 is quite a vibrant pink, but it doesn't go on as vibrant as it looks, you can put tiny bit on and it will give you a nice flush of pink on your lips for casual everyday use, or you can give it another layer transform it into a night out vibrant lipstick look.

(Colours: 09,11,16,03,05)

Then there is the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Matte Finish line. Now I only have two of the shades from this collection, but I absolutely love them. I would have to say that the shade 107 is definitely my favourite (as you can probably tell by the state of the lipstick) it is a nice purplish red which just looks stunning in the winter months. While 111 is definitely a more vibrant classic red which is suitable for any time you want to make your make look pop.

(Colours: 107, 111)
I usually find myself using lip liners when putting drugstore lipsticks on, to give a nice crisp line and these shades are just so gorgeous that I find myself a lot of the time skipping this step because the staying power and the pigmentation of these lipsticks just make it unnecessary to need lip liner.

SAVVY Cosmetics | elliewoods

A little while ago my local Priceline was having a massive 40% all cosmetics. So of course I had to have a little wander in there and pick up a few things I have never tried before.

Whilst in there I found the SAVVY cosmetics stand. SAVVY is a makeup brand that is exclusive only to Priceline, so you can't pick this brand up from anywhere other than at a Priceline store. Now SAVVY is quite a cheap brand as it is but I thought with the extra 40% why not give it a try. So I picked up a blush and three lipsticks and I will definitely be trying out more from their range in the future!

SAVVY have four different shade choices when it comes to their classic blush, so I picked up the colour silky pink and I can definitely say it lives up to its name! The blush formula is just so silky and smooth and applies beautifully to the skin. This blush usually retails for $4.99, which is amazing considering that it is so pigmented meaning that you only need the tiniest amount on your brush in order to get a great strong flush of colour.

The three lipsticks that I picked up weren't the colours that I originally wanted to purchase as I had been looking online before I went into the store, however I went on the last day of the sale, which meant a lot of things had already sold out. So I picked the shades, sand, cinnamon and plum. These lipsticks retail for the same price as the blush at $4.99. They are very creamy, moisturising and will stay on the lip for a reasonable amount of time, however they can tend to smear due to them being so creamy. I tend to apply a lip liner before using these lipsticks and then only applying a small amount and that does tend to stop this from occurring.

If you are in the market for a new blush I would definitely say to check out the SAVVY stand at your local Priceline. However whilst the SAVVY lipsticks are nice and moisturising and do have quite good colour payoff, I probably wouldn't purchase more of these lipsticks, just because they do tend to smear and aren't convenient when going out.

15 Things I want to do this 2014 | elliewoods

Here’s to 2014.

This is the first time I am ever going to set myself a target of 15 activities/things that I want to have done by the end of 2014. I am doing this as whilst I feel like I did quite a lot in 2013, I think that I didn’t really do everything that I wanted to do. This is because of University and other things that I found myself not really doing everything that I could have done.

So here is a list of things that I want to get done in 2014.

- Have Starbucks
- Watch the Notebook
- Read all of the Harry Potter Series
- Watch all of the Harry Potter Series
- Go Overseas (See video to see where I want to go)
- Go to a Comedy Festival
- Get my License
- Go to a show
- Go to the farm I used to go to as a child
- Go to the drive In
- Go camping
- Read and watch Perks of Being a Wallflower
- Go on holiday somewhere in Australia
- Blog every week
- Actually do everything on this list

I think that this is going to be a great way in which to ensure that I do get each and every one of these 15 things done this 2014. I also made a video about this on my Youtube Channel – elliewoods  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=23tcYxPpnSk

and will be blogging every time I tick one of these activities off my list, I may also possibly do some little vlogs of the activities.

Three Legs | elliewoods

Mariah turned up on our doorstep around 5 and a half years ago at the age of 5 months old. With persistence and utter determination she not only made her way into our house but also our hearts. And that of our Rhodesian Ridgeback X dog Ralph who was 12 at the time. Anyone who meets her instantly fall in love with her and her personality. She is not a cat she is a little human in a cats body.
The end of 2013 was quite a stressful and emotional one.
On the 11th of December my mum accidently ran over my darling little kitty in the driveway. As she had decided that she no longer wanted to lie in the flowerbed but instead wanted to lie in our steep driveway and lick herself. Luckily for us and my cat Mariah, I was standing at the end of the driveway at the time and was able to hit Mariah slightly out of the way and stop my mum from completely running over her.

It was then a mad dash to the vet where we were sure we were going to lose her. We knew she had at least a broken leg, which was evident whilst holding her.

The beautiful vets at KVH took her off us and immediately put her in an oxygen chamber. Later that night once she was stabilised (around 9:30pm) they began to operate on her. 80% of her diaphragm had been destroyed and had to be fixed and also a small proportion of her bladder had to be removed. The operation was finished around 12:30am. Which we then had to convert her to the Emergency Hospital, as she would have to be observed overnight. This was because she had a large amount of air on her chest and a small tear in her windpipe; they said they couldn’t believe she was still alive, as most cats would just give up. After being observed and transported back to KVH in a oxygen chamber. We were told she was now able to breath on her own. Mariah stayed three days in KVH and finally we were allowed to bring her home.
 (two days after accident)
(first day home and instantly wanted to go outside)
Her leg still hadn’t been fixed so it was highly bandaged, as they wanted to deal with the life threatening injuries first. So we continued taking her to the vet to get her bandaged changed every two days. A week later they told us that two of her toes had no blood going to them and had to be removed. So they were removed that day.
Then on 23rd of December they told us that the leg would have to be removed as there was no longer any blood going to the remaining two toes, her stitches in her stomach also had to be removed and cleaned as her stitches were infected. Later on in the day they rang and told us that they could not go through with the operation as it was to dangerous and Mariah had stopped breathing during the operation to remove the leg. Luckily they were able to revive her, but she was to weak to go through with the operation that week.

On the 30st of December we took her in to get her bandaged changed once again. They looked her over and told us that she was ready for the operation. So on the 31st of December we took her in bright and early in the morning for her operation. Everything went well and we were able to bring her home that night to celebrate the New Year.

(day before leg amputation)
Now the 4th of January and she is slowly returning back to her old self, her fur is slowly growing back and she is slowly regaining some of the weight which she lost following the accident. She is still unable to properly walk but does give it quite a go. The lower half of the staples in her stomach are due to come out next Thursday and the stitches on her leg and the upper body staples are due to come out the following Thursday.
Well this was quite an emotional one to write, just rethinking about that day and all that has been done to save our gorgeous little kitty always gets me a bit teary.
